LG announces new L90, L70 and L40 smartphones, all running Android 4.4 KitKat
LG just announced three new smartphones - LG L90, LG L70 and LG L40 - all part of the company’s latest L Series, aptly called L Series III. According to LG, the original L Series (from 2012) and L Series II (introduced in 2013) have “enjoyed tremendous success worldwide”, and the new L Series III “is expected to continue the momentum with its handsome design and practical user benefits inspired by LG’s more premium G Series.”

Just like the high-end G Pro 2 that was unveiled earlier this week, all three new L Series handsets will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Make no mistake, though, the L90, L70 and L40 aren’t high-end devices.

The L90 sports a 4.7-inch IPS display with 540 x 960 pixels, further featuring HSPA+ connectivity, an 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a 2,540mAh battery. The L70 is a tad smaller, coming with a 4.5-inch WVGA (400 x 800) display, HSPA+, 8MP or 5MP rear camera (depending on market), VGA front-facing camera, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and a 2,100 mAh battery. Finally, the LG L40 is downright tiny, featuring a 3.5-inch display with 320 x 480 pixels, HSDPA, 3MP rear camera, 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and a 1,700 mAh or 1,540 mAh battery (depending on market).

All three handsets feature a “non-slippery mesh pattern” on the back, and will have optional Quick View cases. A video explaining the design of the new L Series III can be watched below.

LG will officially showcase the L Series III handsets at MWC 2014 later this month. Naturally, the company will also have the G Pro 2 on display in Barcelona, and we're expecting it to reveal the rumored LG G2 Minithere, too.

Details on the availability and pricing of the new L Series III smartphones haven't been unveiled.
