Gloria Tablet Slider Mockup Could be the Future

Gloria Tablet Slider Mockup Could be the Future

Samsung wants to revolutionize the tablet segment, by launching a slate with a sliding keyboard, one that might look like the mockup below. This is the Samsung Gloria, a device that will become real in the near future and it might run Windows 7.

Samsung Gloria is supposed to feature a 10 inch touchscreen, a full QWERTY sliding keyboard and we should expect it on the market in March or April 2011. By the looks of it, the tablet concept comes with a front camera, possibly one at the back and a pretty cool nav pad.

Aquaphone Relies on Water Bubble Interface

Aquaphone Relies on Water Bubble Interface

Bon Seop-Ku had an original idea when it came to his Samsung concept phone: an interface that relies on water bubbles manipulated by electric current. Dubbed the Aquaphone, the handset is pictured below and looks like a very fragile piece of gadgetry, but a fashionable item, too.

It will be interesting to learn how the battery of this device will be incorporated into the Samsung Aquaphone and we guess that the display is only limited to black, white and gray maybe. It would be cool if some other substance, besides water was involved. Any ideas? This concept could be the start of something cool and maybe a new type of e-readers?

Jot is a Rotary Dial Cellphone… With a Pen

Jot is a Rotary Dial Cellphone… With a Pen

Rotary phones are coming back in fashion, since we’ve seen at least two handset designs involving such a mechanism. Samsung Jot is also added to the list, courtesy of designer Raymond Bessemer, the creator of this rotary dial cellphone.

The device doesn’t rely solely on the circular buttons, so it also features a touchpad and stylus, as shown in the following image. “Jot” comes from the handset’s function that allows its user to jot down notes and text messages. An OLED display is also part of the specs and remember this is ONLY a Samsung phone design for now, so don’t expect it to pop up in stores yet.

HTC Honey Handset Runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb With Sense UI

    21/02/2011 15:44

No Android 3.0 handsets have been confirmed yet and we don’t even know if there will be such a device, but what’s sure is that concepts are way ahead. HTC Honey is a Honeycomb phone created by joyStudios and shown below. On top of Android 3.0 it uses HTC Sense and its specs include Bluetooth 3.0 and 4G.

This device also comes with WiFi, GPS and an 8 megapixel camera with flash, capable of 1080p video recording. HTC Honey incorporates a 3.7 inch Super AMOLED display with multitouch, supporting a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. 32/64GB of memory are also available on the device, as well as HDMI out.

You also get a taste of the phone-customized Android Honeycomb in the last image below, if you’re curios. All the people in the know say that Android 3.0 will eventually hit smartphones. What do you think?

Nokia Tibetan Buddhist Phone Looks a Bit Like Motorola Aura

Nokia Tibetan Buddhist Phone Looks a Bit Like Motorola Aura

Imagine a Motorola Aura without the bling and with a more spiritual side to it. We’re talking about the Nokia Tibetan phone, meant to spread the Buddhist teachings and provide features like a Tibetan calendar and a list of holidays. There’s also a function that allows you to play certain songs and a Tibetan language input method.

Nokia Research Center was also involved in this project and even a mockup of the device was created. Nokia chose the circular shape to define tranquility and observed the life and style of Buddhist monks, in order to create this handset. The Prayer wheel concept was integrated in this device too. You have to know that while praying, monks will rotate a prayer wheel once and this mechanism has been miniaturized and integrated into the new Nokia phone.

There’s also a keyboard guard included and a touchscreen display, plus the design mimics a drape on a monk’s robe. This stylish and elegant phone is also spiritual and Buddhist, so I guess that it will be very popular in countries where Buddhism is widely spread and also in Hollywood, where this religion has become… trendy. More details about the project and pictures of the mockup can be found here.
