Sony Ericsson Phones of 2010 Get Pictured; Concepts of Course, From the White Touch Series

Sony Ericsson Phones of 2010 Get Pictured; Concepts of Course, From the White Touch Series

Esato board user JOJO2531 (or J&K, as he signs the designs) created two pretty interesting Sony Ericsson concepts, that we’ve shown you previously. I’m talking about SE W907 and SE C907 and there’s a new handset to have a look at, T907.

Also, Sony Ericsson C907 had only its picture published, no specs, so here they are: a 3.5 inch multitouch display, Android 2.0, a 12.1 megapixel camera with autofocus and HD video recording, aGPS, WiFi, HSDPA and Wayfinger navigation 9.0.

It seems that the 3 concept phones mentioned above are part of the White Touch Series, that the designer sees as 2010 devices.

The newcomer of the day is certainly Sony Ericsson T907, a touchscreen slider, with a 3 inch multitouch display, Symbian S60 5th edition, a 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, aGPS, WiFi, HSDPA and stylish accessories.

Below you can see the phone pictured in white and pink. Its design is timple and stylish, but a bit too square-ish for my taste.  What do you think?

Sony Ericsson K890 Design, Looks Like a Spaceship, Interfaces like a HTC

Sony Ericsson K890 Design, Looks Like a Spaceship, Interfaces like a HTC

Matthias Kolb from Pulse Design has shown us a pretty interesting Sony Ericsson concept phone, the K890. The phone reminds me of a spaceship, as far as design is concerned and from what I can see, it borrows  HTC’s TouchFLO interface and some Windows Mobile flavor.

Can’t really tell is the device is a slider or not, but I’m betting that there’s a keypad underneath the case, although it can be a mere numeric keyboard. Windows Mobile 6.5? Stylus? What’s your opinion?

    A887 Solstice

     A887 Solstice

Nokia 5800i XM - better camera, but no Wi-Fi

Nokia 5800i XM - better camera, but no Wi-Fi

The US FCC website leaked a new version of the popular Nokia 5800. It's called 5800i, but contrary to what the name suggests, it's not a pure upgrade over the regular 5800 XpressMusic. There are no detailed specs yet, but as evident from the photos and the concluded tests, there are at least two differences.

Just by looking at the shots of the Nokia 5800i XpressMusic, there don't seem to be any visual clues to what is different. A closer look at the 3 megapixel camera specs written on the back reveal a longer focus distance - 4.6mm as opposed to 3.7mm in the original model.

Now that may mean one of two things - either the camera has a more narrower field of view (it's more zoomed-in in layman's terms) or there's a larger sensor hiding behind the Carl Zeiss optics there. The first suggestion doesn't make any sense for a cameraphone, so the right answer is probably B). The Nokia 5800i XM has a bigger sensor and that's here to fix one of the major disadvantages of the original - the poor camera results.

However for some reason, Wi-Fi has been left out of the new 5800i equation. Quite strangely, as we're not really sure whether users would prefer better image quality over Wi-Fi.

The Nokia 5800i XpressMusic, of course, is probably far from its official announcement so we'd just have to wait a little bit longer to get all the juicy details. In the end things might take a turn for the better.

Nokia N97 Mini, a Fake or a Genuine Leak

Nokia N97 Mini, a Fake or a Genuine Leak

After seeing the iPhone nano, it seems only logical that we get to have a look at another “miniature” version of a famous smartphone, this time Nokia N97. Nokia N97 Mini seems to be the slimmed-down version of its bigger brother and I bet that its specs are also less impressive.

N97 Mini lacks the sliding cover of the bigger handset, but its keypad looks very decent and comfortable to use. We’ll see if Nokia announces this beauty of we have to sigh again and accept the fact that we’re dealing with a beautiful render.

The available info doesn't get any further than a spy shot or two, but we're talking the real deal here. The most popular handset in our database for several weeks in a row - Nokia N97 is to have a baby brother soon.

Rumors of a more compact version of the Nokia N97 have been around for quite a while now but that does look rather more believable. The possibility that this might be a nicely done fake unit still remains of course.

With the entry-level 5530 XpressMusic just around the corner, Nokia needs an upper-midrange model to fill the gap between the N97 and the 5800 XpressMusic so it can have a complete range of touchscreen devices. We aren't quite sure if a QWERTY side-slider is the best choice, but the N97 was pretty well received so what do we know. A more affordable version of the Symbian-fans dream device might be just what's needed to have them make the switch to the Symbian touchscreen world.
