Présenté en fin d'année dernière en Europe, ce sont désormais de nouvelles informations qui sont disponibles au sujet du prochain smartphone sous Windows Mobile conçu par le taïwanais HTC, le S630, qui porte un nom de code « Cavalier ».
Le smartphone HTC Cavalier est prévu pour disposer d'un processeur Samsung SC 2442 cadencé à 400 Mhz, d'un écran QVGA d'une taille de 2,4 pouces, d'un appareil photo numérique de 2 Megapixels et d'une quantité de mémoire interne de 128 Mo de ROM et 64 Mo de RAM.
Le smartphone HTC Cavalier est de plus quadribande GSM, GPRS et Edge, tribande UMTS (2100/850/1900 Mhz) et HSDPA. Il possède enfin une double connectique Bluetooth 2.0 et Wifi 802.11b/g en plus d'une batterie d'une capacité de 1050mAh, d'un port pour carte mémoire MicroSD et d'une fonction JOGGR (navigation tactile).
Cette fois, d'après le webzine boygenius qui a pris en main pendant quelques heures le smartphone, il apparait que le constructeur HTC aurait envoyé à ses distributeurs une note indiquant que le terminal ne serait finalement pas commercialisé, même si cette information vient contredire celle donnée par les trois grossistes français autorisés par HTC Europe. Légèrement plus large qu'un smartphone HTC Excalibur (HTC S620), le nouveau smartphone HTC Cavalier a été annoncé en novembre dernier comme étant prévu pour être commercialisé en france dans le courant du mois de mars 2007 au plus tôt.
A noter enfin que selon le même webzine, ce smartphone va inaugurer une nouvelle version de son système Windows Mobile 5 lui ajoutant entre autre une nouvelle page d'accueil pour Internet Explorer Mobile exploitant les fonctionnalités « mobiles » des derniers services Web de Microsoft. De même, c'est sa connectique HSDPA qui a visiblement été retravaillée, permettant d'atteindre des débits très impressionnants de plus de 850 kbps en téléchargement !

WakeUpPhone, Cellphone and Alarm Clock at the Same Time

Designer Carl Hagerling created an interesting Sony Ericsson concept phone, blending a cellphone with a device that most of us use daily: the alarm clock. It’s true that such devices have died out, in favor of the ones incorporated in phones or watches, but such an idea could give the alarm clocks a new twist.
Sony Ericsson WakeUpPhone shows the time and also works as an alarm clock that’s wake you up in the morning. The Swedish designer of the handset incorporated a tilted display into the concept, perfect for the alarm position, in order to give the user a better view of the time, while sitting on the bed.
This device draws its power from two AAA batteries and also packs a Walkman player, camera and a power button.
